WILMINGTON, D.E. – The Bloomfield College women's volleyball team ended a two-game Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) slide with a convincing 3-0 sweep of the Lightning on the road. The Bears defeated Goldey-Beacom 25-16, 25-13 and 25-21 at the Jones Center in Wilmington, D.E. Saturday afternoon.
Junior transfer,
Valerie Bermudez (San Juan, P.R.) set the tone in the opening set with five of Bloomfield's 13 kills. In the second set senior,
Diannmarie Rivera (Trujillo Alto, P.R.) stepped up with three kills and three service aces to fuel the visitors attack. Bermudez chipped in another five kills in set 2.
For the match Rivera notched 10 kills, a .368 percentage and nine digs to accent her three aces. Bermudez recorded 10 kills for the Bears (12-3, 6-2 CACC),
Edmarie Freytes (San Juan, P.R.) served up 20 assists, while
Jacquelyn Madlock (Alta Loma, Calif.) had 15 and sophomore libero,
Samantha Rios (Juncos, P.R.) added nine digs.
Alex Glasper (Hainesport, N.J.) recorded a solo block and seven block assists for the afternoon.
Next on the schedule for Bloomfield they welcome Nyack College to the Bloomfield Gym for a Tuesday evening match up. The mid-week CACC showdown is set to begin at 7:00 pm.
