NYACK, N.Y. - Junior outside hitter
Valerie Bermudez (San Juan, P.R.) registered 7 kills to lead the Bloomfield College volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Nyack College on Tuesday evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action at the Bowman Gymnasium.

With the victory, the Bears tied their highest season win total (21) since joining the NCAA Division II in 2002. Bloomfield (21-5, 14-4 CACC) now sits in sole possession of second place in the CACC North Division with one more regular season game on the schedule. The Bears have qualified for post-season play for the second consecutive year and will host a CACC playoff game next week Tuesday.

Bloomfield opened the match with a 25-14 victory in the first set. Nyack (2-24, 1-17 CACC) picked up the pace in Set 2 however the Bears doubled their lead with a 25-18 win. The visitors put the match away with a 25-18 victory in the third set.

Bermudez hit .429 en route to her seven kills, while adding four digs. Senior,
Melissa Yepez (Paramount, Calif.) registered a season-high 12 digs, while
Samantha Rios (Juncos, P.R.) added 11 digs on the night.
Jacquelyn Madlock (Alta Loma, Calif.) and
Edmarie Freytes (San Juan, P.R.) paced the Bears offense with 13 and 11 assists respectively. Freytes also added 4 service aces to the Bloomfield cause during the match. CACC Defensive Player of the Week,
Nayade Paulino (Paterson, N.J.) recorded 6 blocks and 4 kills against the Warriors.

Alexus Winters hit .241 en route to ten kills to lead Nyack while adding a game-high thirteen digs. Lindsay Miller dished out 12 assists to direct the offense, while posting three kills and five digs.

The Bears returns to the court on Saturday for their last regular-season home contest against Dominican College at 1:00 p.m. Prior to the match, seniors Yepez and outside hitter
Diannmarie Rivera (Trujillo Alto, P.R.) will be honored by the Bloomfield Athletic Department for their contributions to the Bears volleyball program.
