BLOOMFIELD, N.J.- The Bloomfield College men's basketball team honored their senior members on Saturday afternoon with a traditional pre-game senior day ceremony. Seniors
Marvin Williams (Jersey City, N.J.),
Matt Hall (Brooklyn, N.Y.), and
Errol Townsend (Hartford, C.T.) all had their Bloomfield careers celebrated as they were acknowledged for their commitment to their school and their teammates.
Â
The festivities consisted of each senior being introduced to a home crowd filled with their family and friends as they received a decorative framed photo of themselves. Each senior had their families meet them at half court to share in the special moment with them. Head coach
Gerald Holmes introduced his senior's with some heartfelt words and some accolades achieved by his three 2014-15 seniors.
Â
Following the ceremony, the Bears defeated Georgian Court University 96-73. Forward
Claude Blue (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and guard
Clarence White (Bronx, N.Y.) led the offense attack for the home squad. Blue put up 28 points on 11-for-12 shooting from the field, and White contributed 16 points and 7 assists on the afternoon. Â The day became extra special for Hall who in addition to being honored as a senior, scored his 1,000
th career point during the contest.
Â
As a tribute, coach Holmes started all three of his seniors, and it paid dividends. The Bears offense played with a ton of energy and looked nearly unstoppable, shooting 53.1 percent from the field. Blue and White were on the same page all game long as the duo would connect on two eccentric alley-oops, sending home crowd into a frenzy. Bloomfield College turned into lob city for a day as Blue's high-flying theatrics gave the seniors a momentous send off. Â White's seven dishes on the day was a season-high performance for the Bears floor general.
Â
With the win Bloomfield improved to 10-12 overall and 9-6 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play. Georgian Court University fell to 2-13 in conference action and 5-18 overall.
