BEARS LOSE THIRD STRAIGHT IN NON-CONFERENCE BATTLE WITH PURPLE KNIGHTS

BRIDGEPORT, C.T. – It was a disappointing loss for the Bears Tuesday afternoon as they were defeated 16-2 by the University of Bridgeport. The non-conference setback dropped Bloomfield to 3-21 overall with their third straight loss. The Purple Knights posted their third win in a row and improved to 15-18 on the year.

It was a great day for the Bridgeport offense, picking up 14 hits in the game as they scored in every inning except for the bottom of the eighth.
Junior, Justin Eclavea (South San Francisco, C.A.) got the start for Bloomfield and lasted just 3.2 innings. The right-hander was pulled in the fourth with his team trailing 9-0. Isaiah Arroyo (Tampa, F.L.) came in to put an end to the Purple Knights' biggest inning of the game where they scored five runs.

Arroyo pitched the fifth and senior Mark Reyes (Bronx, N.Y.) came in to pitch the final three innings of the game. Reyes pitched the only scoreless inning of the day for Bloomfield.

The Bears scored their first run of the game in the top of the sixth when Brandon Morales (Hileah, F.L.) tripled to right driving in Anthony Lantigua (Bellville, N.J.).

Morales picked up two of his teams four hits on the day. Seniors, Juan Hilario (Bronx, N.Y.) and Ray Lang (Middlesex, N.J.) picked up the other two hits for Bloomfield on the day.

The visitors' second run came in the ninth. Ben Thomas (Burlington, N.J.) came up with the bases loaded and grounded to third reaching on a fielder's choice and plating Ellis Sanchez (Kearny, N.J.) making it 16-2.

The Bears look to put the loss behind them and get back to work when they travel to play St. Thomas Aquinas College at Provident Bank Park. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m on Wednesday, April 15.
