BRONXVILLE, N.Y. - The Bloomfield College women's volleyball team traveled to New York to take on their
Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division rival, Concordia College Thursday evening and swept the Clippers 3-0. With the victory the Bears moved to 5-1 on the season including a 2-0 mark in conference play. The setback dropped the Clippers to 1-1 overall and in CACC action so far this season.

The Bears began the opening set with a 4-0 spurt, with three of the points coming off senior
Diannmarie Rivera's (Trujillo Alto, P.R.) serve. Bloomfield put together a 5-1 run to close out the first set, 25-22 and the Clippers found themselves down 1-0 in their home opener.

In the second set junior transfer,
Edmarie Freytes (San Juan, P.R.) served the Bears to an early 9-0 advantage. The Clippers would watch Bloomfield go on an 11-1 run to take a commanding 22-6 lead before eventually taking the set 25-12 and a 2-0 overall lead in the match.

Rivera returned to service in the third set with four of the Bears first five points to build a 5-0 lead early in the frame. The Clippers would slice into the Bloomfield lead and trail 6-4 but the Bears responded with a 15-4 run to open up a 21-8 advantage. Concordia cut the deficit to single digits with an 8-3 run of their own but the Bears wouldn't be denied and completed the 3-0 sweep, with a 25-16 win.

Rivera paced the Bloomfield offense with a game-high 11 kills and
Valerie Bermudez (San Juan, P.R.) added 10 kills on the night.
Samantha Rios (Juncos, P.R.) tallied a game-high 11 digs while Freytes and
Jacquelyn Madlock (Alta Loma, Calif.) each recorded 13 assists.

The Bears take a day off before hitting the road to Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. for a Saturday afternoon tri-match at Mercy College.
