BLOOMFIELD, N.J. – The women's volleyball team used a balance attack to sweep Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division rival, Felician College 3-0 Tuesday evening at the Bloomfield College Gym. With the win, Bloomfield continues their best start to a season since joining the NCAA Division II with a 10-1 overall record and remain undefeated (4-0) in conference play while Felician fell to 2-13 overall and 0-4 in CACC action.
Transfer standout
Valerie Bermudez (San Juan, P.R.) led the Bears with a game-high fourteen kills, while senior
Diannmarie Rivera (Trujillo Alto, P.R.) recorded eight. Junior
Edmarie Freytes (San Juan, P.R.) paced the Bloomfield offense with 19 assists and added six services aces, while sophomore
Samantha Rios (Juncos, P.R.) posted a game-high 15 digs during the match.
Jacquelyn Madlock (Alta Loma, Calif.) chipped in ten assists and three digs.
Defensively,
Alex Glasper (Hainesport, N.J.) made her presence felt with three blocks in the middle with
Nayade Paulino (Paterson, N.J.) registered two blocks for the Bears.
Bloomfield will return to the court Thursday, Oct. 1 for a CACC North Division battle when the Cougars of Caldwell University come calling in the Den. The 7 pm match up will prove who's on top as both teams vie for the number one spot in the North.
