BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - The Bloomfield College men's soccer team suffered a 3-1 setback against Philadelphia University Saturday afternoon at Foley Field. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) loss dropped the home squad to 3-6-2 in league contests and 4-9-2 overall. The Rams improved to 5-9-2 overall and 4-6-1 in conference action with a strong lock on the final spot in post-season play with the road victory.
Â
Philadelphia struck early in the contest pushing a shot past the Bears starting keeper,
Wilson Cisneros (Bronx, N.Y.) at the 5:23 minute mark. The 1-0 advantage held until the halftime break but the Rams doubled their lead in the 52
nd minute on a set play that found an opening thru the Bloomfield wall after a foul.
Â
The visitors put the game out of reach in the 66
th minute on a blast from outside the 18 that deflected off a Bears defender and into the goal. Freshman
Nicholas Calabia (Palisades Park, N.J.) netted his first goal of 2016 as just under two minutes remained but the game was already decided with the Rams seizing control of their playoff dreams and the home team watching theirs slip away. Â
Â
Next on the schedule, Bloomfield will travel to the Empire State Tuesday to close out their league competition for the season against Concordia College. The CACC road battle set for a 2:00 pm start in Bronxville.
