CALDWELL, N.J. – The Bears continued to roll Tuesday evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action as they knocked off their North Division nemesis, Caldwell University in straight sets to secure their ninth consecutive league win. Libero
Samantha Rios (Juncos, P.R.) recorded her 1,500
th dig of her Bloomfield career in the, 3-0 victory that improved the Bears to 16-10 overall and 12-2 in conference play. The Cougars dropped to 16-10 for the year with the home loss and 9-5 in league action.
Bloomfield completed the season sweep of Caldwell with hard fought set scores of 25-23, 25-22 and 25-23.
Rios entered the match needing 14 digs to eclipse the 1,500 milestone and finished the night with seventeen to go along with four assists. Senior
Valerie Bermudez (San Juan, P.R.) followed with 14 digs while classmate and CACC Defensive Player of the Week,
Nayade Paulino (Paterson, N.J.) notched 6 kills and 4 blocks to lead the Bears at the net.
Jacquelyn Madlock (Alta Loma, Calif.) and
Edmarie Freytes (San Juan, P.R.) continued their excellence with 15 and 12 assists respectively.
Paola Noble (Toa Alta, P.R.) chipped in a solid evening with 12 digs and 7 kills while
Kali Viles (McKinney, T.X.) had a game-high 12 kills.
Bloomfield will rest up for a few days before rolling out the welcome mat for Concordia College on Friday at 7:00 pm. The CACC showdown with the Clippers will also be the 'Bears Care' Breast Cancer Awareness Game. All are encouraged to wear pink and make a donation upon entry to help the Bears raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness. There will be a serving challenge for fans in between the 2
nd and 3
