PANTHERS BLANK BEARS, 9-0 IN SEASON OPENER ON THE ROAD

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - The Bloomfield College women's soccer team dropped its season opener matchup Friday evening at Adelphi, falling to the host Panthers 9-0.

Adelphi (1-0) was dominant statistically, outshooting Saint Anselm 22-0 and won the corner kick battle 8-0. Junior Taylor Sipos (Merrick, N.Y.) took eleven of the team's 31 shots and put two in the back of the net as the Panthers took a 7-0 lead in the first half.

The Panthers added two more goals in the second half as their reserves took the field and closed out the non-conference win over the Bears.

The loss drops Bloomfield to 0-1 to start 2016. Sophomore keeper Emira Sela (Staten Island, N.Y.) picked up 13 saves under the lights in Garden City and played all 90:00 minutes for the visiting team.

The Bears continue their Labor Day Weekend road trip on Sunday afternoon when they face the Spartans of St. Thomas Aquinas College. The non-conference tilt is set for a 12:00 pm start on the pitch in Sparkill, N.Y. if weather permits.
