BEARS AND LIGHTNING DEADLOCKED AT 1-1 AFTER CACC SOCCER BATTLE

BLOOMFIELD, N.J. - After two halves of soccer and two overtime sessions, the Bloomfield College men's soccer team settled for a 1-1 tie with the visiting Lightning of Goldey-Beacom College Saturday at Foley Field. The evened match left the Bears at 2-4-1 for the season and 1-2-1 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action while the visitors moved to 5-1-1 for the year and 3-0-1 in league contests.

Wilson Cisneros (Bronx, N.Y.) made his fourth consecutive start in goal and held the Lightning scoreless thru the first half of play. Senior Thulani Hove (Highland Park, N.J.) got the scoring going for the Bears in the 21st minute of play on a masterful ball delivered off the foot of classmate, Mauricio Torrealba (San Paulo, Brazil). Hove tickled the back of the net with a shot past the Goldey-Beacom keeper that put his team up 1-0 in the opening half.

The Lightning found the equalizer in the second period when Cisneros came out to defend an attack and the visitors got around to bury the ball in the empty net at the 60:17 minute mark. The 1-1 score held over the nearly 50 minutes of play and the teams left the pitch with a draw.

Bloomfield takes a short van ride to face the Golden Falcons next on the schedule, slated for Tuesday, September 27th. The CACC afternoon showdown is set for a 3:00 pm start in Lyndhurst, N.J. home of Felician University soccer.
