How It Happened
- The Bears were locked in from the opening tip and marched out to a 27-10 lead at the 6:00 minute mark after a jumper by freshman, Chiedozie Akawuaku (Newark, N.J.) who had a perfect night, going 6-for-6 from the floor and 4-for-4 from the line. Akawuaku recorded a career-high 16 points for the night as Bloomfield took a comfortable, 39-24 lead into the break.
- Davidson and the freshman paced the home team's offense in the first half, combining for 24 points while Kelly, Marcus Fleming (Linden, N.J.) and Dontay Julius (Linden, N.J.) each contributed five points in the frame
- The Bloomfield crowd stayed into the game as they anticipated the regionally ranked Wildcats to make a surge in the 2nd half, but Davidson led the attack and upped the Bears lead to twenty (63-53) at the 10:41 minute mark
- Each attempt to gain ground by the visitors was met by a balanced counter attack from the home squad as Davidson stepped up to drop 20 points in the final period and secure the big league win
- The CACC victory elevated the Bears to 1st place in the North Division while the Wildcats saw a five-game winning streak come to an end, as-well-as dropped to 2nd place in the South Division standings
Up Next: Bloomfield takes another a trip to the 'City of Brotherly Love' but this time to face off with the Griffins of Chestnut Hill on Saturday. The CACC inter-divisional battle is set for a 3:00 pm start.
