BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The women's volleyball team suffered a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division loss Saturday when Post University came to the Den for a visit. The, 3-0 setback dropped the Bears record to 6-18 overall with a 5-10 mark in conference games while the visitors moved to 14-11 overall and 12-3 in league matches.
In Set 1 Bloomfield jumped out to a 4-0 advantage before the Eagles settled in and tied the score at 7-7. The teams jockeyed for points back and forth with the home team snagging a slight 16-12 edge but Post quickly erased that deficit with seven straight points for a 19-16 advantage. The visitors went on to claim the set, 25-23.
Set 2 began much like the opening of the game with both teams jostling for points but the Eagles came out on top with a 25-20 win. Bloomfield facing a sweep came out for the 3
rd set determined and when the visitors soared to an 8-5 lead, the Bears answered to tie the match at 9-9. The teams found themselves tied again at 19-19 before two quick Post points prompted a timeout from head coach James Pompei. The Eagles were determined and put away the match with a, 25-22 Set 3 victory.
Sophomore
Danielle Quintanar (El Paso, TX) recorded a game-high 18 kills for the Bears to go along with 11 digs.
Delanie Cruz (Chicago, IL) had a monster day with a game and career-high 25 digs and added 3 assists while freshman,
Junelly Marrero (Cantano, PR) chipped in 18 digs of her own, and paced the offense with 23 assists.
The Bears return to action on Halloween to face the Cougars from Caldwell University. The North Division battle with the CACC North Division leader is slated for a 7:00 pm start as the Bears also 'Think Pink' in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
