SPARKILL, NY – The women's basketball team dropped an, 80-59 decision to Mercy College on Day 2 of the ECC, CACC Challenge Saturday afternoon. The friendly conference challenge hosted by Saint Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) in Sparkill left the Bears at 0-2 for the season while the Mavericks improved to 2-0 in 2017.

Deja McKenzie (Baltimore, MD) led the way Saturday with 17 points on 50.0 percent shooting from the field (8-of-16) and nine rebounds.
Bobbi Floyd (Las Vegas, NV) came off the bench to add 10 points and 6 boards as she shot, 5-of-10 from the floor and sophomore
Ilysia Lewis (Baltimore, MD) recorded nine points for the second straight day as Bloomfield struggled to find offense in stretches. The Bears opened up the game on a 9-0 spurt and led the entire first quarter but after the second bucket of the second stanza, the Mavericks charged ahead and never trailed again, holding their CACC opponents to just four points in the frame.
Bloomfield will hibernate for the rest of the weekend and regroup for next week's home opener in 'The Battle of the Bears' when NYIT comes into town on Wednesday. Head coach
Vanessa Watson will have the team fired up for her first basketball game on the sidelines in Essex County since back in 2014. The Bears are set to do battle at 7:00 pm in 'The Den'.
