BEARS IN THE NEWS WITH FEATURED ARTICLE ON NORTHJERSEY.COM

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears were recently featured in a story by Michael Lamberti, a correspondent with northjersey.com, in which he mentioned:

The Bloomfield College men's basketball team is off to a good start under veteran coach Gerald Holmes. The Bears were 6-2 heading into a game with Caldwell University on Saturday in Bloomfield. The team plays its home games on campus, in a highly charged environment with usually sellout crowds.

Holmes has been the team's head coach for 17 seasons now, after being an assistant prior to that. He was graduated from NJIT and resides in Essex County.

Holmes led the Bears to a seventh Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championship last season, as the team won the postseason tournament and advanced to the NCAA Division II tournament for the seventh time during Holmes' tenure. The NCAA awards an automatic berth to the CACC winner, and on a few occasions, has extended at-large invitations to a second conference school.
