THE BEARS DON'T LOOK BACK IN THEIR, 4-0 SHUTOUT OVER THE CLIPPERS

BRONXVILLE, N.Y.  — The Bloomfield College (4-1, 2-0 CACC) men's soccer team won their third-straight match and second consecutive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) battle Wednesday afternoon against Concordia College (1-3, 0-2 CACC). The 4-0 shutout on the road over the Clippers was anchored by a solid Bears defensive effort with goal keeper, Jovan Stanojkovic (Pancevo, Serbia) facing only one shot on goal for the day.
 
The Bears got off to an early start when Regsan Watkins (Cape Town, South Africa) served up a ball from the right side of the net that Arman Bashiri (Lovenstad, Norway) buried in goal on a one-timer to put the visitors ahead 1-0. Bloomfield took that advantage into the intermission as they held a slim 4-3 edge in shots during the first half.
 
Bloomfield would pump up the volume in the second half and claimed a 10-2 edge on shots with 3 of them finding the back of the net. First Jamar Leigh (Mandeville, Jamaica) knocked in his second goal of 2017 off a free kick assist from Bryan Medina (Dover, NJ) just five minutes out of the halftime break. Next the CACC Men's Soccer Player of the Week, Nicholas Calabia (Palisades Park, NJ) scored his team-leading 5th goal of the year on a cross into the box from Hakeem Montalvo (Cutler Bay, Fla) and the Bears were on cruise control in the 78th minute.
 
Watkins and Bashiri decided to collaborate one more time for the visitors' final goal of the day in the 80th minute. Watkins sent a pass into the box and Bashiri put it past the Concordia keeper for his 4th goal of the year. The Bloomfield backfield played brilliantly allowing just five shots for the day with only one of them on goal and allowed Stanojkovic to pick up his second shutout of the year.

Bloomfield will put their undefeated CACC record on the line Saturday when the Wildcats of Wilmington University roll into Foley Field. The league battle is slated to start on the pitch at 3:30 pm.
