BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears women's volleyball team successfully defended 'The Den' in their home opener Wednesday evening with a 3-0 win over Concordia College. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) sweep over the Clippers snapped a six-game non-conference slide for Bloomfield and improved their record to 2-6 overall with a perfect 1-0 mark in league play.
The home team seized control quickly with a, 25-10 victory in the first set of the match. Set 2 proved to be a little closer as the Bears pulled out a 25-19 win and set 3 was a nail-biter with the home team thrilling fans with a 25-22 decision to take the match.
Jandra Fabian (Santa Dominigo, DR) nothched 15 kills and 9 digs for the evening as she continues to play big for Bloomfield. Junior transfer,
Linda Thomas (Irvington, NJ) registered 11 digs to lead the team and a service ace while sophomore
Danielle Quintanar (El Paso, TX) chipped in 9 kills and 7 digs.
Ashley Stroot (Roseville, NC) had a solid day with seven kills and four blocks. The Bears freshman,
Junelly Marrero (Cantano, PR) recorded a career-best and season-high, 32 assists during the victory.
Next up for Bloomfield they travel to Pennsylvania to battle with the Warriors of East Stroudsburg University. The non-conference match is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm this Friday.
