Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

WOMEN'S SOCCER SCORES THEIR FIRST CACC VICTORY IN, 1-0 DECISION OVER NYACK

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears women's soccer team picked up their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory of the season with a 1-0 shutout of Nyack College. The Bloomfield (2-4, 1-4 CACC) goalkeeper, Jessica Larson (Delran, NJ) also picked up her first win of the year, keeping the Warriors off the scoreboard with three saves Wednesday night.

The teams played most of the game without a goal as their defenses kept pace with the keepers in denying scoring opportunities. The squads were forced to retire at halftime with no points on the board. The Bears would need to make some changes on offense if they were going to put pressure on the Nyack goal.

Bloomfield finally broke through in the second half when senior, Simone McEnough (Neptune, NJ) scored off a rebound from the Warriors goalie after Ashley Ramirez (Wayne, NJ) blasted a shot from the right side in the 86th minute of play. The Bears held on for the remaining minutes of the game to secure their first win in league play since September of 2015.

The Bears fired seven shots on goal for the game, compared to Nyack's three but the Warriors held a huge, 9-2 advantage in corner kicks under the lights at Foley Field.
McEnough took four shots on the night with the game-winner being the lone one on goal while Ramirez put both of her shot attempts on goal.  Freshman, Patricia Persichetty (Staten Island) had two shots in the game while Stephanie Rivera (Brooklyn, NY), Jenna Armstrong (Mission, KS) and Rachel Van Artsdalen (Palmyra, NJ) all took shots on goal for the Bloomfield effort.

Bloomfield will look to make it two in a row under first-year head coach Mike Minielli when they host the Spartans from Saint Thomas Aquinas College play their home opener on Tuesday against Lincoln University. The non-conference battle is set to start at 7:00 pm at Foley Field.
