OLD WESTBURY, NY – After winning consecutive games for the first time in two season, the Bloomfield College women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 setback at the hands of NYIT Wednesday afternoon. The non-conference loss on the road dropped Bloomfield to 3-5 on the season while NYIT improved to 3-4 for the season.
The battle of the Bears didn't turn out in Bloomfield's favor as they fell behind in the first half, 1-0 after a goal from Nikki Bermudez in the 16
th minute. The visitors spent most of the game on the defensive side of the field as Bloomfield failed to take a shot in the opening period. NYIT went into the halftime break putting up 15 shots against the Bears with nine of them on goal.
Jessica Larson (Delran, NJ) picked up thirteen saves for the day as the barrage of shots continued into the second half. NYIT saw Casey Luongo net two goals in the final period as the Bears striker scored multiple goals in three of the home team's last four games. The Bears enjoyed a 13-1 advantage in corner kicks for the game over the visiting Bears.
Stephanie Rivera (Brooklyn, NY) fired the lone shot on goal all day for Bloomfield College.
Bloomfield will look to rebound in their next road contest on Saturday when they travel to Lakewood, NJ to face Georgian Court University. The match up with the Lions is scheduled for a 1:30 pm start time.
