MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Bears women's basketball team dropped to 0-2 on the season after an, 89-47 setback against Saint Anselm on the road Saturday afternoon. The Hawks improved to a perfect, 2-0 on the year while dropping Bloomfield to 0-2 after the battle at the NE10/CACC Challenge hosted by Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU).
Saint Anselm opened the game with a, 21-14 first quarter and extended to a 10-point advantage (36-26) by halftime. The Hawks swooped in for a big third quarter, outscoring Bloomfield, 31-10 as the CACC team struggled to find an offensive flow.
The Bears saw a bright spot off the bench as freshman,
Caitlin Townes (Newark, NJ) poured in a career-high 18 points, including 8-of-9 from the free-throw line. Seniors
Deja McKenzie (Baltimore, MD) and Bobbi Flyod (Las Vegas, NV) each grabbed six rebounds during the game.
Bloomfield will face their next challenge in a home opener against the Spartans from St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) on Tuesday. The Bears will look to avenge an opening day loss to STAC from a year ago as they welcome the first test on the newly re-designed gymnasium floor at The Den. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 pm against the non-conference opponent.
