BENTLEY BESTS BEARS ON THE ROAD AT TIP-OFF CLASSIC, 100-73

WALTHAM, MASS - The Bloomfield College men's basketball team slid to 0-2 to start a season for the first time since 2015 after a, 100-73 setback against Bentley University Sunday evening. The Falcons remain perfect at 2-0 after hosting the Tip-Off Classic at the Dana Center over the weekend.

After pulling to a, 13-13 tie with just over thirteen minutes in the opening frame, Bentley used a 24-5 outburst to distance themselves from the Bears and eventually went into the half up, 50-27. The Bloomfield offense shot 25.0 percent from the field (10-of-40) including 23.1 percent from beyond the arc (3-of-13) in the first half. The Bears offense woke up in the second half but it was too late as the Tip-Off hosts cruised to the non-conference win.

Senior Kavione Green (Amityville, NY) had a strong performance, going 9-of-18 from the field for a team-high 22 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Bloomfield guard, Keith Washington (Philadelphia, PA) chipped in 16 points, all in the second half while red-shirt sophomore, Rich Chapman (Newark, NJ) had a career-high 12 points and 8 boards.

Following a tough opening weekend, the Bears will welcome the confines of their home floor, opening Wednesday when they host UDC. The Firebirds swoop into town for a non-conference match-up slated to start at 7:00 pm. Before the contest, the athletic department will celebrate, 'Home with Holmes' night, honoring head coach Gerald Holmes on winning his 300thcareer game at the end of last year's season. The celebration will include words from the athletic director, Sheila Wooten, a plaque presentation and a T-Shirt giveaway to all fans while supplies last. You are invited to attend.
