BROOKVILLE, NY– Despite trailing by just three (28-25) at halftime, the Bloomfield College women's basketball team suffered a, 72-48 loss to Long Island University (LIU) Post on Thursday night. The Bears fell to 0-5 on the year while the Pioneers improved to 5-1.
The Bears carved out a 15-10 lead after the first quarter of play but the offense sputtered the rest of the half and the teams went to the locker room with the visitors down, 28-25. Bloomfield only managed 23 points across the final two periods on their way to the non-conference setback.
Bobbi Floyd (Las Vegas, NV) had her best game of the season, posting a double-double, with a game-high 21 points to go along with 13 rebounds. Freshman guard, Caitlyn Townes (Newark, NJ) joined Floyd in double digit scoring with 10 points as the tandem accounted for sixty-five percent of the Bears offense.
Next up, Bloomfield will play a non-conference, regional contest with special meaning when they host Lincoln University Saturday afternoon. The 2:00 pm showdown with the Lions will be played while also raising funds for Go 4 the Goal, an organization that strives to help children with cancer.
