MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Bloomfield College women's basketball team opened their season on the road and suffered an, 89-66 loss to Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) on Friday night. The Bears fall to 0-1 on the year after dropping the first game at the NE10/CACC Challenge hosted by the Penmen.
SNHU (1-0) jumped out of the gates with a 22-5 1
stquarter and continued their momentum to a 47-20 lead at the halftime break. The Bears clawed back with a 25-20 third quarter but the damage had already been with the Penmen coasting the rest of the way to claim the non-conference victory.
Bloomfield's offense struggle, shooting just 34.8 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from beyond three-point range while SNHU came out shooting at a 42.4 percent clip for the game. The Bears offense was led by senior
Deja McKenzie (Baltimore, MD) with 22 points (8-of-21) and a career-high four three-pointers. The forward also opened up 2018 with her first double-double, snagging 11 boards for the visitors.
Bloomfield has a quick turn-around as they square off with Saint Anselm tomorrow at the NE10/CACC Challenge with a 4:00 pm scheduled tip-off time.
