PHILADELPHIA, PA– Last season, the Bears bid for an eighth Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship was cut short by USciences in the opening round of the league tournament but Saturday, Bloomfield found overtime redemption with a, 81-78 win over the Devils. The road win kept Bloomfield perfect in league play, pushing their record to 4-0 and 6-7 overall while the home team fell to 4-9 overall with a 1-3 CACC mark.
The hotly contested match saw the visitors take a one-point advantage by halftime, 39-38 only to see it erased by the end of regulation as the teams were tied at 69-69.
Keith Washington (Philadelphia, PA) returned to his hometown and posted 14 first half points to lead the Bears at the break. Washington finished the game with 21 points, all coming in regulation while sophomore,
Matt Lajeunesse (Union, NJ) also poured in 21 points, sealing the game in overtime with a thunderous dunk.
Lajeunesse, 4th in the CACC in field percentage (56.4) shot 9-of-11 from the field and recorded his fifth double-double of the year.
Rich Chapman (Newark, NJ) rounded out Bloomfield's top scorers, going 7-of-13 from the floor, including 2-of-3 from deep for 16 points.
The Bears will return home to host Post University in a (CACC) match up on Tuesday. The Eagles visit The Den on January 8th for a 7:30 pm tip off.
