PHILADELPHIA, PA– After winning their first conference game on Wednesday, the Bloomfield College women's basketball team traveled down the NJ Turnpike to face the #7 team in the nation Saturday afternoon. The Bears dropped a, 78-47 decision to the Devils from USciences in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action from Bobby Morgan Arena.
The Devils were focused after losing their first game of the 2018-19 season on Thursday to CACC South Division rival, Jefferson in a battle of unbeaten league teams and jumped on Bloomfield, 24-6 in the opening quarter. The visitors' offense produced only eight more points in the 2
ndquarter and the Bears went into halftime down, 40-14. Senior forward,
Bobbi Floyd (Las Vegas, NV) scored 7 points by the intermission break.
In full control, USciences posted an, 18-11 third frame before Bloomfield came back for a strong 22 point fourth quarter but the game was already decided. Floyd finished the game with 10 points and 4 rebounds while classmate,
Deja McKenzie (Baltimore, MD) registered all her points in the 2
ndhalf, netting a team-high, 15. The Bears fell to 2-11 overall after the setback and 1-3 in CACC play. The nationally ranked Devils moved to 12-1 on the year with a 3-1 mark in conference action.
Bloomfield returns home to face Post University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Tuesday evening showdown. The Eagles soar into The Den on January 8th for a 5:30 pm tip off.
