WASHINGTON, DC – The Bears women's basketball team took to the road to face the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) Saturday and suffered a, 64-40 setback. The regional battle in the nation's capitol dropped Bloomfield to 0-7 for the year while the Firebirds improved to, 2-4 in 2019.
The visitors' offense struggled from the floor, shooting just 13-of-53 (24.5 percent) for the day and produced their lowest output of the 2019-20 campaign thus far(40). Dashanique Ruffin (Paterson, NJ) led the Bears in scoring and rebounds, posting 8 points and 8 rebounds against UDC. Sophomore guards, Jaylah Bennett (Newark, NJ) and Caitlin Townes (Newark, NJ) each recorded 7 points in the game.
Bloomfield will look to bounce back when they play their home opener on Tuesday, November 26 against Cheyney University of Pennsylvania. The Bears hope the friendly confines of The Den will lead to their first win of the season after the 5:00 pm tip-off.
