BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears men's basketball team got back on the winning track Saturday afternoon with an 82-77  Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory over Caldwell University. The Cougars fell to an even 5-5 overall after the setback and 2-2 in league play as the Bears improved to 5-4 on the year with a 2-1 mark in conference play.

Junior transfer, Darin Bellinger (Stroudsburg, PA) led the offensive attack, pouring in 18 points on on 7-of-13 shooting from the field which included 4-of-8 from beyond three-point range. Senior guard, Safee Abdus-Sabur (Newark, NJ) added 17 points for the home team while freshman, Abdallah Elsaleh (North Bergen, NJ) recorded 15 points in 33 minutes of work. Matt Lajeunesse (Union, NJ) snagged a team-high 10 rebounds and chipped in 7 points in the win.

The teams thrilled The Den crowd with a back and forth battle in the first half filled with runs as the visitors used a 14-0 spurt to command a 28-12 advantage midway thru the opening frame. Bloomfield countered with a 25-10 run to close out the period with a one-point deficit (38-37) heading into the intermission.

The trio of Bellinger, Abdus-Sabur and Elsaleh combined for 38 of the Bears 45 points in the 2nd half to push them in front of the Cougars and secure the solid conference win.

The Bears hit the road for another CACC North Division battle on Wednesday December 18th against Post University. The game is set for a 7:30 pm start. Bloomfield returns home to host Franklin Pierce on Saturday, December 21st in The Den. The Ravens come to town for a non-conference match slated for a 3:00 pm tip-off time.
