BRONXVILLE, NY – The Bloomfield College men's basketball team came away with a 63-58 win over Concordia College Tuesday night at the Meyer Athletic Center in New York. The Bears moved to 4-3 overall and a perfect 1-0 in their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference test of the season. The Clippers fell to 1-7 overall with an 0-1 conference mark after the loss.
The offense struggled to start the game as Bloomfield went 8-of-32 from the floor for a 25.0 shooting percentage in the first half. The Clippers took advantage of the visitors' poor offensive output and went into intermission with a 29-26 lead on the scoreboard. The Bears posted their lowest first half point total of the season but were still within striking distance of the home team.
In the 2nd half of play, the senior leadership of Dontay Julius (Linden, NJ) helped Bloomfield tie the game at 48:48 with a little under seven minutes to play. The guard netted 13 points in the final half and shot 6-of-9 from the field as the Bears never trailed again in the match. Julius finished the night with a game-high 18 points while classmate, Matt Lajeunesse (Union, NJ) sealed the deal on the boards, grabbing a game-high 15 rebounds to go along with 7 points. Freshman guard, Isaiah Sparks (Ewing, NJ) had a solid night at the Meyer Athletic Center, recording 9 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist for his squad.
Bloomfield will return to action for a monster CACC battle on Saturday, December 7 when they welcome Dominican College into The Den.
