RUFFIN'S CAREER-HIGHS HELP BLOOMFIELD KNOCKOFF CLIPPERS IN CACC OPENER, 62-51

BRONXVILLE, NY - Fresh off of the Thanksgiving break, the women's basketball team hit the road for their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game of the year on Tuesday. The Bears scored a 62-51 victory over Concordia College and improved to 2-7 overall and 1-0 in league play. The setback left the Clippers at 1-8 on the season with an 0-1 conference mark.

DaShanique Ruffin (Paterson, NJ) was unstoppable for the visiting team and posted a double-double by the end of the first two quarters of play, scoring 12 points to go along with 10 rebounds. Ruffin finished the day with game and career-highs of 23 points and 22 boards while also blocking 3 shots. The Bears forward converted 13-of-16 attempts from the freethrow line in thirty-five minutes of work.

Freshman guard, Alaisha Mumford (Jersey City, NJ) barely missed a double-double of her own as she registered 10 points and 9 assists for the game while swiping 6 steals. Sophomore guard, Caitlin Townes (Newark, NJ) came off the bench to pour in 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field.

In front of their home crowd, the Clippers took an early lead by the end of the first quarter  (15-9) but 10 points from Ruffin in the second frame sent Bloomfield into the locker room up, 31-24. The visitors never relinquished their advantage over the final two quarters and left the Meyer Athletic Center with their second-straight win of the 2019-20 campaign.

The Bears continue CACC play at home for their next contest on Saturday, December 7. The Chargers from Dominican College enter The Den for a 1:00 pm showdown of early North Division unbeaten teams.
