WEST PALM, FL - The next stop for the Bloomfield College Bears baseball team in the Sunshine State was West Palm where they American International College across a three-game series, once on March 8th and twice on March 9th. After the two days, the Bears had lost all three games to the Yellow Jackets.
During the first game on Friday (9-2 loss), senior pitcher
Anthony Maldonado (Newark, N.J.) got the start on the mound, going 6 innings and gave up 4 runs on 8 hits.
Justin Sanchez (Kearny, N.J.) had three on the day while junior pitcher/infield
Kendon Strachan (West Hempstead, N.Y.) went 2-for-4 during the setback against AIC.
Saturday morning the teams got together for Game 2 and senior pitcher
Brelin Dixon (Newark, N.J.) picked up his second loss on the year, after throwing 4 innings and giving up 3 runs on a single hit while striking out 6. Junior infielder
Jason Holguin (Lakewood, N.J.) hit 2-for-3 in the first game of the day and junior outfielder
Darwin Tavarez (Garfield, N.J.) went 1-for-3.
The final game between Bloomfield and AIC ended in a 3-2 setback for the Bears.
Kevin Rodriguez (West Orange, NJ) went 2-for-3 in the game and along with
Anthony Elefante (Forked River, N.J.) who went 1-for-3 accounted for Bloomfield's three hits in the contest. Senior
Yordani Nicasio (Paterson, N.J.) on the pitcher's mound went a complete, 7-inning game, giving up 3 runs on four hits, striking out five.
The next game will be the Bears' last in Florida. Their opponent will be the Merrimack College Warriors on Sunday, March 10
thin West Palm. The first pitch is set for 10:30 am as Bloomfield looks for their first win of 2019.
