PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Bloomfield College women's basketball team suffered their 7th-straight loss Saturday evening after a 68-63 setback to Jefferson University. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road loss dropped Bloomfield to 4-15 overall and 3-7 in league games while the Rams improved to 8-10 on the year and 5-5 in conference play.
The Bears raced out to an 11-2 lead to open the contest and secured a 21-16 advantage at the end of the first quarter of play. By halftime the visitors went into the locker room up, 33-29 but after 19-19 third quarter, Jefferson pulled away with a 21-11 output in the final stanza.
Dashanique Ruffin (Paterson, NJ) recorded her 5th double-double of the season, snagging a game-high, 12 rebounds to go along with 16 points. Sophomore Jaylah Bennett (Newark, NJ) led the Bears offensive attack, netting 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting while her classmate, Siani Smith (Burlington, NJ) chipped in 9 points, 5 boards and 2 blocks.
Bloomfield will return home for more CACC action on Wednesday, January 29 against Post University. The Eagles enter The Den as the top team in the league's north division and are set for a 5:30 pm tip-off with the Bears.
