BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The Bears women's basketball team dropped a 65-59 decision to Post University on Wednesday evening. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) loss in The Den dropped Bloomfield to 4-16 overall and 3-8 in conference play. The Eagles, top-ranked team league's north division, improved to 14-4, with a 9-2 mark in CACC contests.
The Bears offensive attack was dominated by sophomore, Jaylah Bennett (Newark, NJ) who scored a career-high 26 points on 12-of-23 shooting from the field. The Brick City native also grabbed 7 boards and blocked a shot.Â
The home team battled hard in the opening two quarters and by the halftime break, went into the locker room down only one, 32-31. The visitors took control of the match with a 15-8 third quarter but the Bears stayed within striking distance for much of the final period before dropping their 8th consecutive game.
Caitlin Townes (Newark, NJ) had 9 points for the match and dished out 6 assists while freshmen, Kayla Sykes (Egg Harbor TWP, NJ) and DaShanique Ruffin (Paterson, NJ) registered 8 points each.
Bloomfield returns to the court on Saturday for another CACC challenge, this time on the road against Goldey-Beacom College. The February 1st showdown is set to tip-off at 1:00 pm in Delaware.Â
