Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

OFFENSIVE STRUGGLES ON THE ROAD FOR THE BEARS AS THEY FALL, 68-48 TO GOLDEY-BEACOM

WILMINGTON, DEL – The Bears women's basketball team hit the road Saturday afternoon and dropped a, 68-48 decision to Goldey-Beacom College. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road setback left Bloomfield with a 4-17 overall mark and 3-9 in league games while the Lightning improved to 5-14 on the year and 5-6 in conference play.

The Bears offense struggled at the Joseph West Jones Center as they opened the game scoreless across the first six minutes of play. Goldey-Beacom took advantage and raced out to a, 20-5 first quarter and never looked back. The visitors converted only 6 field goals in the first half of play which included 0-for-10 from beyond the arc and went into halftime down, 37-13.

The Lightning never trailed in the game and went to the line 30 times, converting 23 (76.7 percent) as they held the visitors at a distance down the stretch of the game.

Sophomore Caitlin Townes (Newark, NJ) was the lone Bears player with double-digit points as she led all scorers with 20 (9-of-18). Freshman Kayla Sykes (Egg Harbor TWP, NJ) snagged 7 rebounds for a team-high. Townes also dished out 5 assists.

Bloomfield's next test on the hardwood will be at home for more CACC action on Tuesday,  February 5, against Concordia College. The Clippers are set for a 5:30 pm tip-off with the Bears in The Den.
