WILMINGTON, DEL– The Bloomfield College women's basketball team hit the road for their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match of 2020 and suffered a 66-59 setback against Wilmington University. The loss left the visitors with a 3-2 mark in league play and 4-10 overall. The home team improved to 1-3 in CACC contests and 1-11 overall.
The Bears opened up the game with a slight edge after the first quarter of the play, 13-12. The Wildcats roared back in the 2
nd quarter and took a 35-33 lead into the halftime break. Sophomore guards,
Jaylah Bennett (Newark, NJ) and,
Caitlin Townes (Newark, NJ) led the offensive effort with 11 points each at intermission.
Wilmington increased their lead with a 16-12 third quarter before closing out the game and collecting their first win of the year. Townes finished the afternoon with a team-high 14 points while Dashanique Ruffin (Paterson, NJ) snagged a game-high 17 rebounds to go along with 6 points.
The Bears return home for their next contest as the Golden Falcons of Felician University visit The Den on Wednesday. The CACC battle is scheduled for a 5:30 pm start on January 8
th.
