ORANGEBURG, NY – The Bloomfield College women's basketball team were mathematically eliminated from postseason contention today when they suffered an, 87-63 setback to Dominican College. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road loss left Bloomfield with a 4-22 overall mark and 3-14 record in league games while the Chargers improved to 12-13 on the year and 10-6 in conference play.
The Bears fell behind early on Coach Baxter Court as the Chargers galloped out to a, 26-9 first quarter and never looked back. Dominican enjoyed a 54-29 lead at halftime and shot 52.5 percent from the field (21-of-40). Bloomfield put up a 24-13 fourth quarter but the game was out of reach and the road team dropped their 14th straight game.
Sophomore Caitlin Townes (Newark, NJ) led the offensive attack with 16 points (6-of-16 FG) while Classmate Jayluh Bennett (Newark, NJ) chipped in 13 points. Freshman Kayla Sykes (Egg Harbor TWP, NJ) added 10 points in her starting role and Dashanique Ruffin (Paterson, NJ) snagged a team-high 11 rebounds to go-along with 7 points.
Bloomfield's next contest will be their final home game for the season when they host Nyack College on Wednesday February 26th. The CACC battle with the Warriors is set for a 5:30 pm tip-off in The Den.
