Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

BEARS STUN REGIONALLY RANKED DOMINICAN ON THE ROAD, 90-72

ORANGEBURG, NY – The Bloomfield College men's basketball team hit the road to square off with regionally ranked, Dominican College in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action Tuesday evening and picked up a key 90-72 victory. The region's 5th ranked-team saw their seven-game win streak come to a halt as they dropped to 19-6 overall on the year and 12-4 in league play. The Bears strengthened their postseason aspirations and improved to 10-7 in the conference and 14-12 overall.

The Bears' defense held the North Division's top team to just eleven made baskets in the opening half (11-of-31) as the road team walked off Coach Baxter Court at intermission with a, 51-29 lead. The Bloomfield offense was in good shape, shooting at 48.6 percent (18-of-37) led by junior, Rich Chapman (Newark, NJ) off the bench with 11 points.

Chapman sparked a 22-6 advantage in bench points that had the home crowd stunned at the halftime break.

Bloomfield continued the charge out of the locker room, reeling off a 9-2 run to start the 2nd half which prompted a Dominican timeout. The visitors were firing on all cylinders and never gave the Chargers an opportunity to get back into the contest down the stretch.

Senior Safee Abdus-Sabur (Newark, NJ) erupted for sixteen 2nd half points and ended the night with a game-high 25 points on 10-of-14 shooting from the field which included 3-of-4 from beyond 3-point range. Chapman finished his night with his second double-double of the year, snagging 10 boards to accompany 14 points. Freshman starter, Isaiah Sparks (Ewing, NJ) also chipped in 14 points and junior-transfer, Darin Bellinger (Stroudsburg, PA) had a nice day at the office, recording 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the floor.

Bloomfield now sits in possession of third-place in the CACC North Division and will face Nyack College on Wednesday February 26th. The CACC battle with the Warriors is set for a 7:30 pm tip-off in The Den and will be the Bears final regular-season game at home..
