BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears men's basketball team hosted Concordia College for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) north division battle on Tuesday and came away with a 79-54 victory. The win brought Bloomfield's overall record even at, 11-11 while they improved to 7-6 in league play. The Clippers dropped to 3-9 in conference matches and 4-17 overall after the setback in The Den.
The Bears fans were treated to a double-dose of double-doubles as the dynamic duo of seniors, Safee Abdus-Sabur (Newark, NJ) and Matt Lajeunesse (Union, NJ) recorded 12 points, 10 boards and 12 points, 11 boards respectively. For the second-straight game Daren Bellinger (Stroudsburg, PA) registered the game-high, this time with 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting from the field including 3-of-6 from three-point range.
The Bloomfield defense held Concordia to just 29.6 percent shooting for the game(21-of-71) and forced 10 turnovers. The home team out-rebounded the Clippers 58-37 as they snapped a three-game losing streak with the CACC win.
Bloomfield returns to their home floor for more CACC action on Saturday, February 8, when Georgian Court University stops by. The Lions and Bears are set for a 3:00 pm tip-off in The Den for Bloomfield's Mental Health Awareness Game.
