A LETTER TO OUR BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE STUDENT-ATHLETES

4/6/2020 6:15:00 AM

Dear BC Bears,

As it has been said repeatedly, these are unprecedented times in our society. The impact and effects of COVID-19 show us how connected we are as human beings. So much has changed in the world in just a blink of an eye. Just a few weeks ago we were with our colleagues and teammates preparing, training, traveling and competing. Our world and daily routines are changing at a rapid pace, and  anxiety and uncertainty are at an all time high as we deal with such drastic changes. It is during this time that we search within ourselves to find our mental and physical strength through resilience. This is the time when the game is close, maybe tied or down, but we find the mental strength and grit to overcome and come out on top with the win. Whether on the field/court or cheering from the sidelines, positive and motivating attitudes are contagious. Let's stick together and push each other to the finish line during this battle against COVID-19.

Though I have not sat down with each of you individually and had a conversation, I am cheering for each of you daily, praying for your success in the classroom and on the playing field. We will learn from this experience together. Please keep your spirits up, and stay focused on the end goal. Write down what you are feeling, write down self affirmations, tackle one assignment at a time, prioritize your tasks, take a few moments to yourself in silence to reflect and plan, check on a friend/teammate, take a run. Find what it is that keeps you on task and motivated.

If you have questions use your resources or ask the necessary questions.

Stay positive. Stay safe. Stay well. Go Bears!

Sincerely,

Jennifer Virgil
