CALDWELL, NJ - The Bloomfield College men's basketball team dropped their season opener Friday night to Stonehill College, 78-69. The Bears fell to 0-1 after the setback on Mark A. Corino Court at Caldwell University (cu) while the Skyhawks improved to 1-0 in their first action of the 2021-22 season.
Top point-getter for Bloomfield was
Andres Fulgencio (Teaneck, NJ) who netted 17 on 7-for-13 shooting from the field, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc. Newcomer,
Wesley Robinson (Burlington, NJ) came off the bench to lead the Bears in rebounds with 8 and contributed 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the floor. Bloomfield's senior point-guard,
Tariq McKenith (Newark, NJ) dished out five assists and freshman
Deavion Ellis (North Bergen, NJ) snagged 3 steals.
Isaiah Sparks (Ewing, NJ) and
Tyrek Battle-Holley rounded out the double-digit scorers for the Bears with 12 and 13 points respectively.
Bloomfield will look to draw even in the record books on Saturday when they face-off with Southern New Hampshire University. The regional match-up against the Penman is set for a 6:00 pm start on Day 2 of the CU Conference Challenge.
