BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The Bloomfield College women's basketball team fell to Assumption University, 66-59. The Bears dropped to 1-3 after the loss in The Den while the Greyhounds improved to 2-1 on the early season.
At the half senior, forward
Siani Smith (Burlington, NJ) was on fire and led Bloomfield with 12 points. Smith was 5-for-8 from the field and a perfect 2-for-2 from the line. Both teams were even on the glass with 18 rebounds each but Assumption had an edge in assists after two quarters with an 11-7 advantage.
The Bears gave ground in the 2
nd half as Smith cooled, going just 1-for-4 the rest of the game to finish with 15 points.
DaShanique Ruffin (Paterson, NJ) and
Myasia Jackson (Trenton, NJ) each had solid performances, chipping in 12 points apiece.
Bloomfield will take off for the Thanksgiving break before returning to action Monday, November 29
th for another non-conference thriller. This time the Firebirds from the University of the District of Columbia come to town with a 5:30 pm scheduled tip-off.
