BLOOMFIELD, NJ - Bloomfield College women's basketball suffered a, 68-60 setback Tuesday night at the hands of Post University in The Den. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) battle left the Bears with a 2-6 overall record and winless (0-2) in early league play while the Eagles continued their 6-game win streak and improved to 7-1 overall with a perfect 2-0 record in conference games.
The Bears were in control of the contest for most of the game, posting as much as an eleven-point advantage (30-19) with 4:28 remaining on the clock in the 2nd period. Bloomfield enjoyed a, 51-41 lead heading into the final quarter and on the verge of snapping the Eagles winning streak but the visitors rallied back. Post used a, 27-9 final frame to soar over the home team which included 12-out-of-13 free throws to seal the game.Â
Senior forward,
Jaylah Bennett (Newark, NJ) led all scorers with 19 points followed by fellow Brick City native,
Taneshia Tucker (Newark, NJ). The freshman guard saw her best day as a Bear, dropping 17 points on 50.0 percent shooting from the field (6-of-12) and dished out 6 assists.
DaShanique Ruffin (Paterson, NJ) snagged a team-high, 10 boards to go along with 8 points in the setback for the home team.
Bloomfield will return to action for their next contest on Saturday as they travel to Lincoln University (Pa.). The non-conference showdown with the Lions is scheduled for a 2:00 pm tip-off.
