BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The Bears women's basketball team suffered a setback at home on Saturday in a, 58-53 loss to Dominican College. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) battle with the Chargers left Bloomfield below .500 for the second time this season (3-4, 3-4 CACC) while the visitors improved to 6-1 overall and 5-1 in league match ups.
The teams also played for a great cause as they participated in the Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer game. The student-athletes wore yellow laces and t-shirts to help bring awareness to pediatric cancer. They asked those watching the game to support by making donations throughout the live broadcast of the contest.  They encouraged fans to help them reach their goal by donating here:

The home team saw another stellar performance from Dashanique Ruffin (Paterson, NJ) who netted game-highs with 19 points and 11 rebounds while registering her 4th double-double of the year. Sophomore guard,
Alaisha Mumford (Jersey City, NJ) chipped in 11 points as she and Ruffin where the only two Bears to reach double-digits in scoring. Bloomfield led 49-48 with 5:52 remaining on the clock in the final quarter but the Chargers galloped in front with a 10-4 run to secure the conference victory.
Next up for the Bears will be Georgian Court University on Monday, Feb. 22nd with a scheduled 6:00 pm start. With pending weather forecast calling for snow, the showdown with the Lions amy have to wait. Bloomfield would then return home to host the Clippers of Concordia on Thursday at 6:00pm but all changes will be updated on the athletics website.
