CALDWELL, NJ - The Bears women's basketball team hit the road and picked up a, 59-40 decision over Caldwell University Sunday afternoon. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) regular season finale victory for Bloomfield improved the team record to 6-4 on the year and locked in the #3 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. The Cougars dropped to 3-6 for the season and secured the 5th seed in the league's tournament.
The Bears led the entire contest and clawed out a 14-3 first quarter to put the home team behind early. By the halftime break, the visitors enjoyed a 33-22 advantage before stretching out a 12-0 run to start the third quarter and putting the contest out of reach.
DaShanique Ruffin (Paterson, NJ) had a team-high 17 points while
Myasia Jackson (Trenton, NJ) chipped in 11 points on a modest 5-for-9 shooting performance from the field.
Bloomfield now prepares for a Tuesday evening showdown with #6 seeded, Nyack College who finished the regular season at 3-7. The Bears defeated the Warriors in the first game of the year, 75-70 back on Jan. 28th. The opening round of the CACC Tournament match up is set for a 6:00 pm tip in The Den.
