BLOOMFIELD, NJ - The Bears hosted Caldwell University Thursday evening and roared to a, 67-47 win on their home floor. Bloomfield improved to 2-1 on the year with a 2-1 record in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matches with the victory. The Cougars, who played in their first action of 2021 fell to 0-1 overall and in CACC contests.
After a deadlocked (12-12) first quarter, the home team used a 16-9 second frame to push ahead, 28-21 at halftime. The Bears never looked back in the 2nd half of the game as junior guard,
Jaylah Bennett (Newark, NJ) erupted for 13 points across the final two quarters. Redshirt freshman,
Myasia Jackson (Trenton, NJ) finished the game with 13 points and along with Bennett became the game-high scorers for Bloomfield. Sophomore
Alaisha Mumford (Jersey City, NJ) had a stellar game distributing the ball, dishing out a career-high 12 assists to go along with 9 points.
The Bears return to the hardwood on Saturday, Feb. 6th when they travel to Orangeburg, NY for another CACC showdown, this time against Dominican College. The battle with the Chargers is scheduled for a 1:00 pm tip-off. Stay tuned and updated here for all possible schedule changes.
