BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield College women's basketball team picked up their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory of the season Saturday afternoon as they defeated Wilmington University, 62-36. The win snapped a nine-game losing streak for the Bears and improved their overall record to 3-14 and 1-8 in conference play while the visiting Wildcats fell to 1-11 for the year and 1-6 in league matches.
Bloomfield used a 21-6 2
nd quarter to 'Defend The Den' and take control of the game. The home team took a 31-17 advantage into the halftime break and never looked back.
Daniya Darby (Jersey City, NJ) pushed her career-high to 16 points as she led all scorers with an 8-for-12 shooting performance.
Myasia Jackson (Trenton, NJ) turned in an 11-point (4-for-10) afternoon and doled out 5 assists to accompany 3 steals.
Jaylah Bennett (Newark, NJ) came off the bench to register 11 points as well, shooting 50.0 percent from the field (4-of-8).
The Bears will look to 'Defend The Den' again on Wednesday when Felician University comes to town for another CACC showdown. The 5:30 pm evening tip-off will see the home team looking to avenge a December 1
