BLOOMFIELD, NJ – With less than 24 hours of rest, the Bears volleyball team was back in action Wednesday night, squaring off with The University of Bridgeport (UB). Bloomfield secured a hard-fought, 3-1 decision over the Purple Knights and pushed their consecutive win-streak to nine games.
The Purple Knights (5-15, 4-5 CACC) battled in the opening two sets but eventually fell, 25-22 and 28-26 respectively. The visiting team stunned the Bears (9-4, 8-0 CACC) 25-17 in the third set before the home team put away the match, 25-23 in the fourth.
Karla Maldonado (Morovis, PR) led the way with 16 digs for the home team and
Lauryn Hansford (Plainfield, NJ) paced the offense with 16 assists and 4 service aces.
Esther Dogbe (Irvington, NJ) and
Karen Ramiu (Caguas, Puerto, Rico) each had 9 kills for the match and
Desiree Cruz (Humacau, Puerto Rico) had a season-high 6 blocks.
Bloomfield will take the CACC's longest winning streak of the year to the road for a Saturday afternoon showdown with Wilmington University. The Wildcats are currently tied for 2
nd in the CACC South Division and are currently on a six-game winning streak of their own.. See who's streak continues when they square off at 1:00 pm in Delaware on the CACC Network.
