BLOOMFIELD, NJ – After an administrative decision, The Caldwell University Conference Challenge swithed venues to the Bloomfield Gym and the Bears dropped their second game of the weekend in an, 82-40 contest against Assumption University. The non-conference loss left Bloomfield with an overall record of 0-2 to start a season for the 2
nd straight year while the Greyhounds moved to 1-0 in 2022-23.
The Bears offense struggled as Assumption ran off to a 23-6 lead after the first quarter. Bloomfield never recovered and they shot just 23.9 percent from the field for the game. After a solid outing in her debut the day before, freshman Anisha Able (Newark, NJ) made her first collegiate start and recorded 8 points to go along with 6 rebounds. Transfer guard, Saja Alston (Newark, NJ) came off the bench to lead the Bears in scoring with 10 points.
Bloomfield will rest up for their next non-conference opponent, The College of Staten Island who come to Then Den on Wednesday, November 16 for the official home opener. The Dolphins are set to square off with the Bears at 5:30 pm.
