BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield College Bears got back on the winning track with a, 3-1 victory over visiting, Dominican University of New York (DUNY) on Thursday evening in the Den.
The Chargers took the opening set but the Bears rallied to win the next three and completed the home victory.
The visitors fell to 11-15 overall and 9-8 in conference play while the Bears improved to 15-7 overall and 14-3 in the CACC.
Bloomfield got off to a fast start in the first set but the DUNY rallied, outscoring BC 13-6 to take the lead and completed the 25-22 win. The home team tied the match 1-1 after a back-and-forth battle in the second set. The Bears scored the final four points of the game to finish off the 25-18 win.
The Bears got off to a 7-1 run to start the third set and continued their strong play on their way to a 25-8 win for the 2-1 match lead and then outlasted the Chargers in the fourth set with a 27-25 victory and completed the CACC North Division win.
The Bears were led by
Jaizahir Marrero who registered 12 kills and 16 points.
Lauryn Hansford added a match-high 27 assists while
Amanda Arroyo chipped in 16 assists.
Desiree Cruz and
Karen Ramiu each added nine kills and
Karla Maldonado recorded a team-high 15 digs.
Bloomfield returns to action this Friday when they host the Lions of Georgian Court University for Senior Night at 7:00 PM.
