BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield College women's basketball team returned to action Friday night after almost a two-week break and dropped a 65-52 decision to Saint Thomas Aquinas College (STAC). The non-conference home game left the Bears at 1-8 overall while the Spartans improved to 9-2 on the year.
Bloomfield was up to the task across the first three quarters of play, staying close to STAC on the scoreboard 43-38 but the visitors exploded in the fourth quarter, 22-14 and pulled away in The Den for good.
The Bears saw just two players reach double-digit scoring as starters
Daniya Darby (Jersey City, NJ) and
Saja Alston (Newark, NJ) recorded 12 and 10 points respectively. The home squad shot only 33.3 percent (19-for-57) from the field including, 0-for-8 from three-point range which contributed to their struggles down the stretch to get back into the game.
Bloomfield will host another non-conference foe on Monday, December 19 when Adelphi University comes to The Den for a 2:00 pm showdown.
