BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bears women's basketball team stopped a 4-game skid Saturday afternoon with a, 61-59 win over Goldey-Beacom College. Bloomfield edged out the Lightning to improve to 4-18 on the season overall and 2-12 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) action. The visitors dropped to 7-15 for the year and also 2-12 in league play.
Dashanique Ruffin (Paterson, NJ) led the way with an 18-point, 13-rebound double-double performance. Ruffin went 6-for-11 from the floor and cashed in on 6-of-8 freethrows. Fellow starter, Jayluh Bennett (Newark, NJ) chipped in 10 points, going 4-for-8 from the field which included 2-for-4 from three-point range. Senior
Siani Smith (Burlington, NJ) came off the bench to add 10 points as well, shooting 5-for-7 for the game.
Bloomfield controlled most of the contest and took a, 24-19 lead into the locker room for halftime. The home team's advantage swelled to eight (47-39) in the 4
th quarter but the Lightning struck back and took the lead, 57-55 with just 1:33 remaining in the game. A Bennett three-pointer put the Bears back in front for good and snapped Bloomfield's four-game losing streak.
The Bears return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Dominican College for a CACC showdown. The Chargers host Bloomfield for a 5:30 pm tip-off on Coach Baxter Court. Please check bcbearsathletics.com frequently for updates.
