BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield College baseball team split a home doubleheader against Chestnut Hill College on Saturday afternoon. The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference, 7-inning double dip at West Side Park moved the Bears to 7-12 on the year with a 1-2 league mark. The Griffins went to 10-11 overall on the season and 2-1 in conference match-ups.
The visiting team swiped Game 1, 10-6 after racing ahead 3-1 in the first inning.
Jonas Espinal (Ridgefield Park, NJ) belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the 7
thbut the Bears rally fell short as their final two batters struck out with bases loaded in the 10-6 game.
Game 2 saw Bloomfield put on their rally caps once again, after being down 7-5 headed to the bottom of the 7
th. This time, freshman
Angel Murray (Santa Isabel, Puerto Rico) blasted a walk-off three-run shot that lifted the Bears to their first conference victory.
Bloomfield returns to action Sunday, March 27 when they host Felician University at West Side Park. The Bears look to avenge an earlier-in-the-week loss to the Golden Falcons when the teams tango for a league doubleheader that is set for an 12:00 pm first pitch. Live Stats will be available.
